Ernest Koschineg - Rest In Peace

1943 - 2025
1943 - 2025

Ernest "Ernie" Koschineg '61, the long time Vice Principal of Student Affairs and Disciplinarian, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, November 28, 2025.

Mr. Koschineg, known better as just "Ernie," was known as a very tough but very fair disciplinarian at Northeast Catholic High School. He held that position from the early 1970's until the school closed in June, 2010. After the closing of the school, Ernie acted as the liaison between the transferred students and their new schools.

Once the details of the funeral services are set, we will notify everyone via our social media accounts.

The following is from Ernie's daughter, Kim:

My Dearest Falcons,

It is with a heavy and saddened heart that I share with you that my father Ernie passed away peacefully yesterday morning in his home. My Dad broke his hip in June and found out that he had both leukemia and lymphoma. He chose to decline treatment and to live his best life for the love of his grandchildren. Last Monday he took a turn and was placed on hospice. He grew weak and had one dying wish which was to see his youngest granddaughter play varsity basketball in high school. His pure will and determination got him there and he saw her score her first varsity basket.

While sick previously and over the last two weeks, I read him every FB post. He shared stories about each of you with myself and our children. He knew every name and fun stories about all of you. North was everything to him. Always saying born and bred in Kensington, he was proud of where he came from, he was proud to be a Falcon, and to have participated in the life of so many of you that he thought of as “sons.” We are planning a funeral for him next weekend and I will share details. My family and I would like to welcome all of you to come help us celebrate such a great man. In honor of our father we ask if the Norphans would wear red. Thank you for so many prayers and support of our family, it is a devastating loss to all of us and we pray that he is a peace.

Thank you Falcon Family❤️
