It's Lucky 12 Club Time Again

It's that time of year again when we hold our annual membership drive for the Northeast Catholic Alumni Association, in the form of the Lucky 12 Club.

If we have your current address on file, you will receive a letter from the North Catholic Alumni Association regarding the Lucky 12 Club and the Communion Breakfast. This article explains what the Lucky 12 Club is, where the money goes, and how it works.

Before we get into the details, we'd like to thank everyone for your generous support over the years for the Lucky 12 Club.  We ask for your continued support in our efforts to maintain the Salesian values and spirit that we all learned and adopted while students at Northeast Catholic High School.   As mentioned above, the Lucky 12 Club is the Association’s annual membership drive, but it is also a key source of revenue that helps us meet our primary goals of fostering fraternity among our members and supporting Catholic education in the Philadelphia region, as well as de Sales University, in Allentown.

The Alumni Association maintains an office that allows us to house our school museum and the Our Lady of Fatima Grotto, that for years was prominently displayed on the front lawn of the school.  In addition to the costs associated with maintaining this building (utilities, insurance, maintenance expenses), we also incur costs associated with running the Association, including but not limited to, paper, envelopes, postage, printing.  All of these costs are necessary to run this organization so we can provide the most benefit to our membership.   With that said, our costs have increased over the years, especially in the past couple of years.  Therefore, we find it necessary to increase the cost of annual dues from $10/year to $15/year.

HOW THE LUCKY 12 CLUB WORKS

For each ticket purchased ($12/ticket), you select a 4-digit number (0001 – 9999), add your name and class-id, which can be found on the mailing label of the envelope you received with your tickets, and mail the tickets along with your check back to the Alumni office.  Each Monday, beginning April 29, 2024 thru Monday, July 15, 2024, a number will be drawn at the office.  The winner(s) will received $1,000, or a portion thereof, depending on how many winners have that same number.  For example, if 2 tickets have the same winning number, each purchaser of those tickets will split the prize, with each receiving $500 each.  The final “Grand Prize” drawing will be held on July 15, 2024.  The Grand Prize amount will be $12,000, which will go to the winner, or split between the winners if more than one ticket has that number.

Due to the change in the cost of annual dues, the only impact this will have on the Lucky 12 this year will be the number of tickets needed to be purchased/sold to have your dues paid for the year.  Each ticket is $12, but if you sell 3 tickets, you'll only send in $30 and your dues will be paid for the 2024-2025 fiscal year. If you sell 6 tickets, you'll only need to send in $50, and your dues will be paid for the 2024-2025 fiscal year and you will be entered into the "seller's prize drawing".

DEADLINE FOR “LUCKY 12” TICKETS IS SATURDAY, APRIL 27, 2024 AT NOON.

Winning Numbers will be included on the office’s voicemail message each Monday evening (215-543-1051), on our website (www.northcatholicalumni.org), and on our social media accounts.

BONUS PRIZE AVAILABLE TO SELLERS! – As an incentive to sell additional tickets, a prize will be awarded at the week 12 drawing.  For every 6 tickets sold, the seller will receive one chance to win a $1,000 “sellers prize.”  A separate drawing will be held to award the seller’s prize.

We are confident each of you will respond to our requests in the same manner as you have in the past.  We also hope you understand why we needed to increase the cost of dues for the coming year.  Your support of the “Lucky 12 Club” will be financially beneficial to the Alumni Association, which in turn will be beneficial to you.  Let me assure you that your Association will continue to support Catholic education for our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  This year the Memorial Scholarship Fund will award $500,000 in tuition assistance, and we hope to continue to provide these grants for many years to come.

                                                                                                                                               Thank you!
